The Crimson and Cream Foundation awarded six scholarships for the 2022-23 academic year. Sultan Koroso, Elianna Aberra, and Jai Thibodeaux are the recipients of this year's top awards. Sultan is a graduate of Wellstone International High School and will attend the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Sultan is pursuing a major in Computer Science, fueled by his interest in how technology can address health and economic disparities like those he experienced during the COVID pandemic. Elianna Aberra, a graduate of Spectrum High School, will attend Arizona State to pursue a career in Psychology, with specific interest in how phycology is utilized in the Criminal Justice system. Jai Thibodeaux, a graduate of the Breck School, will attend Hampton University as a Marketing major. He intends to ultimately work in Pharmaceutical Sales.
Other 2022 Crimson and Cream Scholarship recipients and their college destination are Kayln Washington who will attend Pomona College, and Russell Bullock who will attend Howard University,
Octavius Wilson, Jr. has been named the winner of the 2022 Tommy Lawrence Memorial Scholarship. Mr. Lawrence was a founding member of the Crimson and Cream Foundation and worked tirelessly to advance cultural diversity in corporate America through effective recruitment and retention strategies. Specifically, because of his efforts to recruit college graduates, the Tommy Lawrence Memorial Scholarship is targeted for college students entering their junior or senior year of undergraduate studies, to ensure they have the resources to complete the final leg of their undergraduate matriculation. Octavius is completing his undergraduate studies in the field of Economics, with emphasis on Data Analytics. His goal is to be able to give back to the people that helped him and the people who were once in his shoes.
